Due to unforeseen circumstances the Faculty of rts is unable at the present time to put forward recommendations for the development of Chinese studier,

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE.
(a) For the development or Honours courses, it is recommended that two additional Lectureships be created, appointment to be made in 1951 or 1952.
(b)
The Senate, in March 1948, approved the institution of courses leading to a Diploma or a Certificate in Social Studies.
A working Committee consisting of University and Government representatives is being formed to discuss the extent of the need for such courses and to discover the field of career in this Science.
It is recommended that the new sub-department consist of:
2 lecturers (one in Sociology)
A part-time Lecturer
appointments to be made in September of 1950 or of 1951.
