DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS
The University has been approached by Government with a request that it considers the possibility of inaugurating coses ir Statistics, to implement a resolution passed at the Fifth Session of the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East. Such a Department would have additional use in covering courses in Vital and Trade Statistics and Demography in the Department of Economics and Political Science, in assisting in courses in Psychology, and in aiding such research in departments of the Faculty of Medicine as requires organization of statistical data.
It is recommended that a Department of Statistics be formed, with the following staff to be appointed as soon as required:
Reader in Statistics
Lecturer in Statistical Mathematics.
Equipment would also be needed, but the extent cannot be assessed at this stage.
