I am directed by Mr. Secretary Griffiths to refer to your letter of the 23rd July, 1951, seeking the approval of this Office to the appointment of Flight Lieutenant L. S. Laughton (119209) as Honorary A.D. C. to His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong.
The furfural to make this apportiment is noted, whether homary of Minnost, I am to inform you that the appointment of an A.D.C. [by a Colonial Governor is the personal concern of that Governor. While he may seek the aid of this Office in selecting suitable candidates for the post, the approval of this Office of the resulting appointment is not necessary.
