COURTS OF JUSTICE

HONG KONG

26/27th June, 1950.

EA

(K.M.L.) K.I.L. No.

No.

Sec.

S.S.

Street

You are hereby notified that the Crown Lease of the abovementioned property which was originally granted for a term of 75 years commencing from 25th June 1875 expires on the 24th June this year and that accordingly on that date the land and all buildings thereon revert absolutely to the Crown, and your right interest and claim therein and thereto under the Lease, come to an end.

2.

Pending the consideration of the question of the possible renewal of the lease or (if no new lease is to be granted to you) the notification to you of the date upon which you will be required to quit and deliver up possession, your tenancy of the property after 24th June will be on a temporary basis only subject to six months notice of termination on either side, and subject also to such of the terms and conditions of the lease now expiring as are applicable thereto. The temporary continuation of your tenancy in this way will of course be without prejudice to Government's claims rights and remedies arising out of or in connection with any breach non-observance or non-performance by you of the terms and conditions of the lease now expiring, and shall not prejudice or affect Government's rights powers and authorities which arise on the expiration of the leasehold term.

3.

If it be your intention to apply for the grant of a new lease and you have not already done so you should make immediate formal application addressed to the Director of Public Works or to me giving your present address to which you wish the reply to be sent.

4.

Notice in regard to the expiry of these leases has already been given wide publication in the English and Chinese press and the Government Gazette and if you have not already applied for renewal, and notwithstanding this further notice make no application, it will be assumed that you do not wish to obtain a new lease, in which case you should make arrangements to relinquish the property and to give possession thereof to Government, failing which proceedings for the recovery of possession will be taken.

If you have already made application for renewal, you will in due course be informed whether a new lease can be granted to you, and if so upon what terms.
