My dear Stuttern
Many thanks for your letter 53723/3/50 of the 13th December about the Chairmanship of the Public Services Commission.
I enclose a copy of Howe's reply to my letter of the 27th November, 1950, which formed an enclosure to my letter of the same date to you.
We have considered the points raised by Howe and reached the conclusion that we can meet them all with certain reservations, so we have now addressed you
(\) in our Savingram No.169 of the 12th February.
There is little I can usefully add to the Savingram, except that Howe's point about additional remuneration does not arise and this will be explained to him when he arrives.
I hope that it will be found possible to fill the new post of Puisne Judge at a very early date so that we will not be in difficulties when J.R. Jones has completed his three months as Acting Chairman.
