I hope to present Estimates for 1950/51 to Legislative Council on 8th March. Expenditure is expected to total $199, 000, 000 made up of

Personal emoluments $48,750,000 plus cost of living

allowances $31,000,000

2. As in the current year, expenditure directly or Sadirectly related to internal security will be heavy. Defence Force one and three quarter million, Police Ordinary Recurrent

This includes expenditure fifteen and a half million compared with twelve and three quarter million for current year. on police quarters and blockhouses and also on large screening camp.

Further five million will be spent In addition to this, programme of Police Stations and blockhouses being financed from loan funds will be completed.

3. Expenditure under Public Works non-recurrent covers completion of most important items in this years's programme and also provides for new Queens College and one other school in addition to three schools which are being constructed from loan funds. Queens College will cost $1,700,000, and would of course itself have
