Two posts of Lift Operator have been transferred to the Public Works Department.
Other changes not involving any changes in
staff are:-
(a)
(8)
the promotion of two Clerks Class II to Class I.
the substitution of one Clerk Class III for a Clerk Class II;
(a) the promotion of nine temporary Clerks to
Clerks Class III to fill approved vacancies;
(a) the transfer of 18 Overseers from the tempo rary
staff to the pensionable establishment;
(e) the promotion of a Draughtsman Class III to
Class II.
The following posts have been abolished:-
1 Junk Coxswain.
3 Messengers.
1 Cleaning Coolie.
The following new posts are provided for:-
1 Veterinary Officer.
1 Senior Health Inspector.
1 Foreman Class III (supernumerary),
1 Ganger.
86 Sanitary Coolics.
The net effect of these changes is to increase the provision of Personal Emoluments by $1,295,231.
Other Charges also show an increase totalling $414,500. Of this sum an additional $200,000 is required for Cemeteries; $125,000 for Anti-rabies measures; $40,000 for Stores and Equipment; $30,000 for the Re-settlement of Squatters; and $12,000 for the Control of Bathing Bea hes. With the transfer of the Health Inspectorate staff to this department, an additional $29,000 is needed for Travelling Expenses and $10,000 for training Health Inspectors. Other minor increases occur, against which a reduction of $50,000 in the upkeep of vehicles can be off-set.
The cost of the programme of Special Expenditure
is some $5,100 lower than in 1949/50.
The total increase in the Head is 1,704,631.
