The provision for seconded army personnel is considerably reduced now that the requirements of the Regiment are known more exactly. The Deputy Commandant, Adjutant and Orderly Room Quartermaster Sergeant are provided for under this block vote. The method of remunerating the Commandant has been revised with a resultant saving. Personal Emoluments are consequently reduced by $111,007.
With the completion of the initial stages of establishing this unit, considerable savings amounting to $302,340 have become possible under Other Charges. In addition Special Expenditure is reduced by $819,640.
The net result is a reduced provision for this Head of $1,230,997.
B. Hong Kong Naval Force.

The estimates for 1949/50 provided generally
for a skeleton staff on a basis of six months.
Consequent on the development of this branch of the
Hong Kong Defence Force to its full strength, considerable increases of $136,503 in Personal Emoluments and
