Dear Darracott,

Will you please refer to my

letter of the 6th December about a

claim by the Government of Hong Kong

in respect of flour requisitioned in

1941.

As you may know it has been

suggested that Follows, the Financial

Secretary, Hong Kong, should come to

the United Kingdom in April to discuss

various claims outstanding both by

the United Kingdom on Hong Kong and by

Hong Kong on the United Kingdom. This

requisitioned flour claim is one which

will be discussed.

I have consulted our own Legal

Advisers and they are of the opinion.

that the Hong Kong Government claim

is a good one. In the circumstances

I would be grateful to know what your

view is on this question,so that we can

make as much progress as possible

before Follows comes to the United

Kingdom.

Yours sincerely,
