Dear Mr. Himsworth,

sunt~9th May, 1949.

We have received a vacancy form from

Hong Kong asking un to fill the post of Assistant Director (Industry) in the Department of Comerce and Industry. We have recently been recruiting candidates for posts, of a similar nature in Nigeria, and at the last Selection Board we earmarked one candidate Mr.R.R. Lack as being worth serious consideration for this post. Unfortunately you were not in the country at the time, and we did not wish to make an appointment without having the benefit of your advice.

Mr. Lack was at the time a candidate for the post of Marketing Officer, Nigeria, and ŝinco-the Selection Board recommended him we will have to put up his papers for approval. However, since he has had service in the Far East, the Hong Kong post would probably be more suitable for him, and my purpose in writing to you is to ask you to let me know whether you would be able to come to the Colonial Office sometime in the near future so that we could call Mr. Lack up again and you could have a word with him yourself. If you consider that

ERIC HIMSWORTH, ESQ.
