No. 347 Confidential

Your despatch No. 169 of 1948.

Category "A" claim for goods supplied to

India through Hong Kong War Supplies Board,

1.

It appears that claim is for settlement by Government of India and if you have not received a reply from Accountant General Central Revenues, Delhi, I suggest a reminder be sent asking if settlement could now be effected. If however no reply is received or if India does not (repeat not) agree to accept responsibility for settlement, I will ask the Commonwealth Relations Office to approach Government of India, If I do this I

shall require to know dates and references of your communications to Delhi and of their reply if any.

2.

I will address a further communication to you as soon as possible as regards claim submitted to Government of Burma referred to in above despatch.

Delay in replying to above despatch, and also to your despatches No. 15 of 28th January 1948 and No. 235 of 29th September 1948 is much regretted. I hope to be in a position to reply to the despatches No. 15 and 235 in

near future.
