Letter from the Ministry of Communications to the Jardine Ezineering Corporation.
Dear sir,
November 4, 1947.
mong our stocks in Hongkong commandeered by the Hongkong Government and for compensation of which we have previously requested you to negotiate with the Hongkong Government on our behalf, there are two locomotives, C.K.R. 31, 32, Skɔda (4-6-2) which are the property of the Canton Hankow Railway.
According to a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated February 11 of this year, No.2561, a neo- randum from the British ambassy, dated January 21, No.36,
nas been received to the effect that the two skoda 1000- motives are at present in Bombay and the Hongkong Government has stated that the two locomotives will be transported back from India at the earliest possible moment. Arrange- ment for that purpose has been made, but on account of the lack of snips with crank equipments, the locomotives will be shipped to Hongkong in parts for reassembling.
However, these two locomotives have not yet been shipped now, as the Canton-Hankow Railway is urgently in need of these locomotives, we shall be grateful if you would kindly urge the Hongkong Government to ship these locomotives back to Hongkong as soon as possible.
Please also let us know if any reply has been receive? from London regarding the commandeered stocks.
Yours faithfully,
