The total alaim against the Hong Kong Government
1a, therefore, £ 1.295.907. 18.
The claims were referred by the Hong Kong GovernA-- ment to H.M.Colonial office in London who, in turn, referred them to the war office for settlement.
The J.B.C. have made repeated efforts by appli- cations to the Hong Kong Government, the Colonial Orrios and the War Office to obtain settlement of the claims but, wo far, have boon unsuccessful in doing so.
The Chinese Government, Ministry of Communication", is now showing impatience and feels that as two and a half years have elapsed since the cessation of hostilities, the British Government ought to be in a position to effect a settlement.
