Dear Chancery,
I enclose a copy of a letter (with enclosures) which I have received from F.A. Pollock (who is temporarily in charge of Jardines interests here) with regard to claims of the Ministry of Communications in respect of railway materials removed from Hongkong by the British authorities in 1941.
2. I very much doubt whether there is any action which can usefully be taken by the Foreign Office, but from my own point of view, our commercial interests are to some extent indirectly involved since the apparently unnecessarily long delay in settling these claims is embarrassing to Jardines in their capacity as_agents in this matter of the Ministry. For this reason I am sending copies of this letter to the Board of Trade, although I do not imagine that they will think it necessary or feel able to take any action.

If you feel the Foreign Office could do anything to accelerate matters I think it would be as well if you could see your way to suggesting
