With reference to your letter of the 7th April addressed to the Administration of Enemy Property Department, concerning your claim in respect of property lost or damaged in Hong Kong as a result of the war, I am directed to refer to the statement, a copy of which is enclosed, issued by the Government of Hong Long
As explained in the statement, the Government of Hong Kong have recommended that no compensation should be paid for war damage. in these circumstances it is regretted that no payment can be made from Hong Kong Government Funds in respect of general war damage.Compensatio claims The statement is of course not concerned with any claims where a legal liability may be involved and any such claims should be referred direct to the Government of Hong Kong.
