may remember, approximately $500,000 was needed for the Institute and $250,000 for the animal homes. In view of the developments in B.C.G. Vaccine and of the fact that tuberculosis is a particularly important problem in Hong Kong, I think that the D. of S's advisers might well regard the research on B.C.G. preparation, use, etc., in Hong Kong as coming within the scope of the research grant.

Typhus and malaria also call for local research.
