Dear Farrington,

Repair of statue of Queen Victoria,

Hong Kong.

With reference to your letter to Miss Ruston W/2F/Hong Kong 532 of the 18th June, I confirm that the information contained in your letter of the 26th February was sent out to Hong Kong. It so happens that three days ago we had a despatch in reply, saying that the Hong Kong Government have decided to defer a decision on this matter until they have been able to give further consideration to a proposal for re-planning the area in which this and other royal statues were formerly sited. We are not likely to hear from Hong Kong again on the subject until some time after October, in view of certain arrangements we are hoping to make in regard to town planning in the Colony, but we will write to you again as soon as we learn the decision of the Hong Kong Government on the question.

Yours sincerely,

W.D. FARRINGTON, ESQ.
