Your Petitioners respectfully point out that the Petition

had been presented to His Excellency-in-Council only because of

the refusal of the Honourable the Colonial Secretary to include in

the terms of reference to the Hotels Advisory Committee the

question as to whether there should be control at all (in lieu of

the limited terms of reference of investigation and assessment of

rates), wherefor on the issue of abolition of control Your

Petitioners were advised that recourse would have to be to His

Excellency-in-Council by Petition, a Petition which Your

Petitioners were confident, even before the completed findings of

the Hotels Advisory Committee, would be fully supported by the

findings of that Committee.

In the meantime on the limited terms of reference of the

Hotels Advisory Committee, Your Petitioners had been in communica-

tion with that Committee in respect of the inquiry instituted.

11. One of the preliminary steps taken by Your Petitioners was

the respectful suggestion to the Hotels Advisory Committee of the

inquiry taking the form of a judicial or quasi-judicial inquiry open

to the public in the tenor of the following letter to the Chairman

of that Committee :
