SECTION 1:-ADMINISTRATION.
The Hong Kong War Memorial Fund Ordinance No. 10 of 1947 was passed on the 20th February, 1947. In accordance with its provisions, relief is given from the Fund to various categories of persons who have been bereaved during the battle of Hong Kong and the period of its occupation by the Japanese.
2. In April, 1947, a Committee was appointed by Sir Mark Young to establish and administer the Fund.
The Committee consisted of the following:-

Mr. Ngan Shing Kwan,
Rev. George She, Mr. T'so Tsun On, Miss Shin Tak Hing,
Miss Alice Kwok,
Mr. J. H. Ruttonjee, C.B.E.,
Mr. E. C. Fincher,
Mr. Benjamin Wylie,
Dr. A. M. Rodrigues,
Mr. J. C. McDouall.
Miss Shin Tak-Hing left the Colony in July and Mrs. Li Shu Pui was appointed to take her place during her absence.
Mr. Ngan Shing Kwan was absent from the Colony on business for some months. Mr. J. C. McDouall returned to the Colony early in September and took his place on the Committee. Rev. George She, who has been in England for some time, has recently returned.
3. On the 16th May, on the eve of his departure from the Colony, Sir Mark Young broadcast an appeal for support to the Fund which was then about to be established. The appeal was made by the Committee at the end of May, circular letters being addressed to various persons and firms in the Colony.
