I have the honour to refer to your Secret despatch No. 2
of the 8th January, 1948, with which you forwarded copies of the Protected Ilaces (Safety) (Amendment) Ordinance, No.53 of 1947,
and to inform you that His Majesty the King will not be advised to
exercise his power of disallowance in respect of this Ordinance.
2. Since sending your despatch you will have received my
telegram No.64 of the 15th January, 1948, asking that if a
Proclamation suspending the operation of the principal Ordinance
has not been issued within the next six months, a review may be
furnished at the end of that period giving details of (a) the
premises removed from the application of the Ordinance during
the six months and (b) the premises to which the Ordinance still
applies. In the meantime, I have noted with satisfaction the
assurance in the last paragraph of your despatch.
