Many thanks for your letter of the
16th September. I am very glad to hear that the terms proposed are scceptable to you, and I confirm that the cost of your passage to liong Kong and back by air will be paid by Goverment.
The Governor of Hong Kong 13 very anxious to make an announcement locally about your forth- coming visit. He has suggested that it should bo in the following terms; -
"Hong Kong is extremely fortunate in having
obtained the promise of a visit of ProfessOP Sir Patrick Abercrombie to give advice on planned development of this city and Colony.
Here follow details of Sir Patrick's previous career and achievements which are available locally). Sir Patrick is expected to arrive in Hong Kong in October and will be here for several weeks. In this short time he cannot be expected to produce a final plan for the cfties of Hong Kong and Kowloon and for the port, but he will outline a general plan and indicate what preliminary work is necessary and the team that is required to undertake it.
