I told you over the telephone this morning that the Spanish Embassy had approached us about a group of Spanish missionaries in Hong Kong who have apparently been ordered to evacuate premises they at present occupy. The papers have been some- what sidetracked in this office, and I am afraid that the story may now be closed, since I under- stand that the Spaniards were told on the 3rd July that they must be out of their premises by the 15th July. It would in any case be useful to us to know how this matter now stands and

I should be grateful if you would consider sending a telegram to the Governor on the lines of the attached draft.
