Sir,
I have the honou to invite reference to your letter No. 34738 Appts. of 30th November, 1945, offering an appointment to Fr. D. J. L. Mcfhirter as a Cadet Officer in Hong Kong and to inform you that I have accepted Ar. McWhirter's resignation.
2.
Mr. McWhirter gave as his reason for resignation the opinion that his revised emoluments under the Salaries Commission would be insufficient to enable him to live even modestly. He will be leaving the Colony towards the end of April, when he will be granted the amount of leave earned during his tour of duty.
3. I shall be grateful if an administrative officer to replace Mr. McWhirter could be selected as soon as possible.
