13. I had some representation from the European Inspectorate with which I need not trouble your Excellency, but one point which emerged I think applies to all officers, and this is the difficulty in being able to assess the extent of any benefit which would accrue in the event of the death of the officer either on or off duty. I understand that the Ordinance is extremely involved, and although a specific percentage is deducted from salary there is no clear knowledge as to what benefits accrue therefrom. The deduction no doubt relates the other aspects, but I do suggest that so far as widows pensions or allowances are concerned some comparative table could be produced and thus relieve a measure of anxiety which exists to-day.
