I am etc. to refer to Home Office letter of the

15th July 1948, on the subject of members of the Hong Kong

Police Force who were recruited from County and Borough

Police Forces in this country.

The Governor of Hong Kong has come to the

conclusion that some of these men recruited during 1945

and 1946 had grounds for supposing that their pension

rights would not be entirely abrogated on resignation

from the parent force. He is therefore proposing to

introduce legislation whereby the Hong Kong Government will

accept full pension liability in respect of police service

in the United Kingdom of former members of County and

Borough Forces who were recruited for service with the
