servios in that Force, upon retirement from service in Hong Kong. The concession will be dependent upon receipt of the refund of pension contributions made to the officers when they resigned from their home forces on appointment to the Colony. The Governor appreciates that no contribution can be expected from the local authorities concerned.
A list of the officers concerned is enclosed and the Governor has asked that the various Polios Forces should be asked to provide pension computations on the above-mentioned basis. I am accordingly to request you to be good enough to approach the appropriate local authorities for this information. If however, you prefer this Department will communicate direct with these authorities, and you will no doubt advise as to this. In view of the last paragraph of Mr. Stotesbury's letter 916,289/48 of the 4th May, 1949, a direct communication will be sent to the Royal Ulster Constabulary regarding J. Holmes and R.N. Oliver.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
(gd) J. B. Sidebotham.
