force to another with the consent of his Chief Constable and your Petitioners pray that this provision shall

be applied to those men who in 1945/46 transferred from Police Forces in United Kingdom to the Hong Kong

Police Force and that all their previous approved police service in United Kingdom may be counted in cal-

culating the pension to be awarded to them by the Hong Kong Government. That this may be permitted under

the regulations made under the Pensions Ordinance of Hong Kong No. 21 of 1932.

22. That Your Petitioners observe that under the new conditions of service salaries will be on a

Hong Kong dollar basis. That so long as the Hong Kong dollar is linked to Sterling Your Petitioners agree

to this arrangement, but they submit, that should this link be broken then salaries ought to revert to

Sterling.

23.

That the new terms based upon the Salaries Commission Report will commence on the 1st January

1947. That Your Petitioners respectfully submit that as the conditions were at least as bad on 1st May

1946 (when the Civil Administration resumed duties) as on 1st January 1947, and Your Petitioners had to

augment their salaries out of their private means during 1946, the new scale should commence on the earlier

date.

24. That this Petition covers many points which are of vital importance to the attainment of an

"adequately paid and contented Police Force".
