STANLEY INTERNMENT CAMP. HONG KONG:
COPY OF ORIGINAL.
46
The following extract from a recent minute by the Hon.
Colonial Secretary (now Sir Franklin Gimson, Governor of
Singapore) in connection with a complaint from a subordinate
officer against another (senior officer), is circulated for
the information of all ranks on the point of discipline :-
"I understand that it was the traditional practice of the
Hong Kong Police Force to require that junior members in
addressing their seniors should adopt come mark of respect due to
the seniority of rank. In Stanley the Hong Kong Police Force
is still regarded as being administered under those conditions
which were observed prior to internment as far as internment
permits. The contracts of employment of members of the
Police Force with the British Government are still in operation
and it is confidently expected that the terms of these contracts,
especially in relation te pay, will be fulfilled.
