A member of the Force who at the date of retirement has

completed ten years of pensionable service will be eligible for a

pension at the rate provided under the Police Force Ordinance 1932.

That rate is 14/50th. of pensionable salary in respect of the first

ten years of service plus 1/600th. of pensionable salary for each

month of service after the first ten years, and with a further

addition of 1/600th. in respect of each complete month of service

beyond 20 years until the maximun pension of two-thirds of salary

is reached.

A member who retires before completing ten years of

service will be eligible for a gratuity equivalent to 1/120th.

of annual salary for each completed month of service.

Every member of the preț war European non gazetted

establishment is requested to state in writing before 31st.

December 1946, whether (1) He wishes to retire now on the terms

set out in paragraphs 6 and 7 above, or whether (II) He wishes

to remain in the Force.

As regards paragraph 2 (II) above the new salary for

Sub-Inspectors which became effective on the 1st. of January last,

commences at £260 per annum and rises to £430 per annum by six

annual increments of £10, two of £15, one of £20, and four of £15.

After three years of service on the maximum salary for Sub-Inspectors

(£430 per annum) and subject to passing an efficiency bar a Sub-

Inspector is promoted to the rank of Inspector on the scale of

£475 per annum by three annual increments of £20 to £535 per annum.

Promotion to the rank of Chief Inspector on the scale £600 per

annum, by four annual increments of £25 to £700 per annum is by

selection on merit and depends upon vacancies in the grade of

Chief Inspector.

10.

For purposes of fixing the salary at which all European

non commissioned officers below the ranks of Chief Inspector will

enter the new scale, the general principle has been adopted that all

officers, including both those in the service before the outbreak

of hostilities in the Pacific, and those recently appointed, are

deemed to have been on a salary of £260 per annum at the age of 26 years, but in order to preserve the existing order of seniority
