I was made Senior Inspector/
a new post to the Police Force and to be
equal to Chief Inspector, however I have a covering note to a minute
which was addressed to me by Supt. Pittendrigh, and is C.I.Water "
eaning, Chief Inspector, Fater. On my transfer to C.I.D., Police
Headquarters to reorganise and take over the Deportation Office, the poɛ.
I held at the outbreak of the Pacific War, I submitted a claim for
Chief Inspectors salaryfor the period I was in charge of the Water Polic
Station. This was refused so I made further claim this time sub-
mitting a photostatic copy of the above mentioned covering note, again
it was turned down so I requested that these papers be placed on record
my intention being at a later date to raise the question with the
Secretary of State and my reason for raising the point in this communi-
cation is in the form of a request Sir, with a view to having my right-
ful clain substantiated also that I feel I am justified in claiming my
right to promotion
and prior to a man who had never previously served in this Force.

When the war vas over and Govt. settled with accrued salaries,
those in Govt. Service who had
wangled "
were paid in full while we
rho were bludgeoned into sending our families away found when we received
our stotenent of account regarding accrued salaries, family allotments
had been stopped in full.
Of this I would not have minded so much if I had, in common
with others, given authority for an allowance to be deducted from my
salary. This I did not do nor did I ever grant authority to anyone to
interfere with my salary, the reason being that when I found that I had
H
been duped" by allowing officialdon to send my family away as they did whilst their families remained,, I refused to maintain my family, for, as
Govt. had sent then away I said they could maintain them.
