I have the honour to refer to your Confidential
starf despatch No. 31 of the 29th April, 1948 forwarding
a petition from Inspector Shepherd on behalf of the
pre-war non-gazetted officers of the Police Force.
2. I should be grateful if y u would informa
Inspector Shepherd that I have given careful consideration
to this petition but that I am sutisfied that all the
matters raised have been satisfactorily dealt with in
accordance with the policy I have approved and that I
see no cause to intervene.
3. I enclose, for such action, if any, us you may
see fit to take on those points not covered in the bove
petition, a copy of a letter dated April, 1948, which
Inspector Shepherd ad ressed directly to Lord Listowel.
I should be grateful if you would inform Inspector shepherd
that Lord Listowel has received and considered this letter
and that it has been forwarded to you for such uction us
you see fit.
