Revised letters of appointment are being
(or by now probably have been) issued to the se
officers on the basis that there are three categories
of appointment
a) those officers who were recruited from
the Metropolitan police,
b) those cases where the officers resigned
from the Home force and thereby
definitely severed their connection
with the Home police and thereby
forfeited such pension rights as they may
have acquired in the United Kingdom(and
c) cases where an officer is on secondment
to Hong Kong by special arrangement with
the Home police authority.
On the question of the prospects of
promo tion, seniority and pay I can only repeat
that these matters will be gone into
thoroughly when I have had the opportunity of
studying the Governor's observations on the
petition.
