This suggestion can be followed but it
is indeed very doubtful whether the respective
authorities will agree, having regard to our failure
to persuade the Cardigan County Police to do so in
a recent similar case, and to the categorical
requirement that resignation was required before the
officer was released for employment in Hong Kong.
Furthermore the question of no loss of seniority
or promotion will be a stiff hurdle to overcome
having regard to the other serving members of the
County forces.
The Home Office will no doubt decide on
this point but the first step is to make absolutely
certain that we have the names of all the policemen
concerned. The first action therefore on point 1
of the petition would appear to be as in attached
draft herewith for consideration.
