Vacancies for Assistant Superintendents of Police.
I approve the promotions of Sub-Inspectors J. Moore and A. A. Shaw with effect from the 1st April, 194.9.
I would, however, draw your attention to paragraph 7 of your confidential staff despatch No. 140 of the 23rd December, 1947, and should be glad to learn whether Messrs W.N. Darkin and V.M. Morrison are not now considered suitable to hold gazetted rank and whether you intend to consider these officers for further vacancies.
I would also draw your attention to the discrepancies between paragraphs 3 and 4 of your savingram under reference and paragraph 2 of your staff despatch No. 2 of the 7th January, 1949, regarding the effective date of är. Elston's retirement.
