There are two vacancies for Assistant

Superintendents of Police in Hong Kong, and the

ریکہ 279

Governor suggests that consideration be given to the

appointment of members of the Indian Police Force or

from the gazetted ranks of the Palestine Police Force.

An age limit of 30 is stipulated.

Preference should I think, be given to the

Colonial Police Service, and I have attached a list

opposite of gazetted Police officers who might be

considered.

Mr. Viveash was 30 last January and

Warmly recommende bir. Preau Hill in July, but as they are not much over

the age limit I have left them in. Mr. Mullin and

Messrs. A.N. and L.H. Outram will be 30 next month.

The list does not include gazetted officers

of the Palestine Police Force, as we have been debarred

for some time from considering them owing to present

conditions there. A recent telegram received from

Palestine however stated that expatriated officers

should now be considered for transfer or transfer on

promotion on the same basis as officers in other

Colonies.

It did not particularly specify the Police

Force but it has been suggested elsewhere that we

should approach Palestine again asking them whether

they could now release two non-gazetted officers for

transfer on promotion to Nyasaland as Assistant

Inspectors of Police, and therefore there seems to be

no reason why we should not approach them on this

occasion also.
