40 Comments on International Matters.

The main feature was the future relationship of America to China, following General Marshal's return to the United States. Comments varied diametrically. "The National Times" said, "So far as Sino-American rela- tions are concerned we should view his appointment with optimism." "He will attempt to cheat the Chinese people.......with the same old game, said the "Hwa Shiang Pao". Generally, no change in American policy was anticipated.

Very mild comment was made on the alleged rape by a U.S. Marine of a Chinese girl in Peking.

Most papers commented on the need for Russia to hand back Dairen "to remove international discord.
