Chief Internal Events Reported.

(a)
"Kung Sheung Daily Press" of Feb. 3 reports that the Kwangtung Aid to Cheung Tim-cheung Association is demanding HK$100,000 compensation for death of Cheung Tim-cheung in the Shumchun border incident. Mr. T. W. Kwok's office may be concerned.
(b) "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of the same date reports that a Chinese warship has gone to the Paracel Islands in connection with China's claim to sovereignty.
(c)
All papers report the disastrous fire on the s.s. "Sai On" when about 130 persons were burned to death.

Complaints which seem to be unjustified continue to be made against the Vegetable Marketing Scheme, reports "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of Feb. 6.

"National Times" of the same date says that further endea- vours are being made to extradite Chinese collaborators from Hongkong,
(f) Canton newspapers state that Dr. T. V. Soong is to fly to Kwangtung via Hongkong to discuss export of wolfram, tung oil and raw silk.

"Central News" reports an increased output of 50,000 tons of coal a month in Taiwan after the first consignment of mining equipment has arrived.
(h)
The same paper of Feb. 3 reports that the Japanese repara- tion shipyard machinery is to be used to set up a new shipyard in Shanghai.
(i)
Canton newspapers report that 10 modern trawlers are to be allocated to Kwangtung from UNRRA supplies for the development of fishing industry.
