Comments on Colonial Matters.

147

(a) The "National Times" in a long editorial of 3/4/protests strongly against any statement or decision that Hong Kong will remain British.

(b) The "Kung Sheung Daily Press" and "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of 31/3 both protest against limitation of the numbers of hawkers but suggest stricter control.

4. Comments on International Matters.

The "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of 1/4 features an article on competition between U. S. A. and Russia for world denomination and instances the United States proposals to make the United States half of Korea prosperous, pre- sumably as a contrast to Russian half if Russia will not co-operate to produce a unified Korea. Russia seems to be favoured as less opposed to Chinese aspirations.
