Chief Internal Events Reported.

(a) Terrorists who have previously confined their threatening letters to business houses and theatres are now threatening private houses with destruction unless protection money is paid. (Wah Kiu Yat Po, 3/4).

(b) Ching Ming has seen a revival of Black Market activities in the Kowloon-Canton Railway tickets. (Wah Kiu Yat Po, 2/4).

(c) Canton has protected against the "strong and unreasonable" refusal of the Hong Kong Government to hand back the two members of the Peace Pre- servation Corps recently sentenced to imprisonment for armed robbery.

(a) General Chang Chun is to be president of the Executive Yuan, and. is now forming his cabinet. (Wah Kiu Yat Po, 1/4).

(e) Preparations are in hand for the taking over of Dairen by the Chinese Government. Fears are expressed that the Communists may execute

General Chen Yi, Governor General of Taiwan has been ordered to

The Kuo Min Tang Commissioner for overseas affairs, Mr. Chen Hsu Jen, is to visit Hong Kong. (National Times, 1/4).

(h) General Chang Fa-kwei, nominated as governor for new province of Hainan, wishes to withdraw in favour of Admiral Chan Chak. (Chien Kuo Jih Pao, Canton, 30/3).

(i) Canton Press continues to give news of appropriations of hundreds of millions of National dollars for public works, but few reports of any progress other than preliminary surveys. Only report of early completion are three reservoirs in Waiyang and Fukong. (Shiang Pao, Canton, 1/4).
