Chief Internal Events Reported.

(a) The Provincial People's Council are pressing the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to protest vigorously against the imprisonment of the two members of the Peace Preservation Corps now serving prison sentences in Hong Kong. (Sing Tao Jih Pao, 8/4).

(b) Compensation amounting to HK$300,000 is being claimed by the mother of the deceased Cheung Tim-cheung, who died as a result of a shot fired accidentally by a British soldier at Shum Chun last December. (Kung Sheung Daily Press, 8/4).

(c) Elements of the notorious Japanese "Black Dragon" Society are still being rounded up in Shanghai. (Sing Tao Jih Pao, 9/4).

(a) The Paracel Islands are to be included in the new Province of Hainan. (Wah Kiu Yat Po, 9/4).

(e) "Undesirables" from Hong Kong, presumably the repa- triated destitutes are causing disturbances in Canton. Kiu Yat Po, 9/4).

(h) Mr. T.W. Kwok's Office (Kuo Min Tang) is keeping the shooting incident (when a boy was accidentally wounded by an officer of the Hong Kong Police while hunting in the New Terri- tories) alive.
