PRO/871/3.

(g) The case of the two members of the Peace Preserva- tion Corps recently jailed for piracy in Hong Kong continues to be a sore point. "Kung Sheung Daily Press" of 23/4 defi- nitely sides with the Chinese authorities in the matter, asking "our own Government" 1.e., Chinese Government, to press for the return of these men to Chinese jurisdiction, or at least to hold a joint investigation with the Hong Kong Government.

(h) The "National Times" of 23/4 justifies the firing on the British training plane at Macao, on the grounds of Chinese sovereignty; because the plane might be co-operating with bandits; and because the two Peace Preservation Corps men are jailed as pirates.
