Mr. E. R. Edmonds

WG

with reference to the Secretary of State's enquiries, we are waiting for the Foreign Office to suggest someone for the post of Political Adviser. I have made it clear to them that we wish to be consulted before any selection is made, and I am having a note made on the relevant file of the Secretary of State's wish to be personally consulted. I should perhaps mention that I received a letter this morning from Mr. Kitson of the Foreign Office, indicating that they might have some difficulty in finding someone for this job. I am replying that we hope that they will be able to let us have a name or names soon, as we attach great importance to the appointment being filled as soon as possible.

I understand that Sir Thomas Lloyd is making a submission to the Secretary of State on the question of the Governorship.
