No.4 Turbo Set: This set has been removed by the Japanese. It would be a decided advantage to the security of the Station if the set could be installed, but so far only part of the set has been located. The Company does not wish that the re-installation of this machine should be considered as a Government liability.

No.3 Turbo Set:

No.2 Turbo Set:

Somewhat similar remarks apply.

Although this set has not yet been opened up, it has been, and is being, used extensively to meet the present demand. The machine runs well and although there is no sign of serious trouble, it is probable that when opened up, several stages of blading and diaphragms will require renewal, if the condition of No.1 set, which is at present being overhauled, is any criterion. Although both of these sets which have the same capacity have been used to meet the demand, in preference to No.6 for the reasons stated above, they cannot both be considered as essential to meet the load envisaged by next March.

No.1 Turbo Set: This machine is at present being overhauled. Five rows of blading on the rotor should be replaced, together with four complete diaphragms, and other miscellaneous small parts for the governor gear, valve spindles, extraction pump glands and shaft.

D.C. Auxiliary Turbo Set No.2. This set is apparently in reasonable condition, with the exception of one auxiliary motor which is at present being overhauled. The condensing plant for this set is common to a similar set which has been removed by the Japanese, but which has been located, and will be re-installed as time and circumstance permit. The latter is a Company's liability.

D.C. Auxiliary Turbo Set No.1: This set is covered by the observations above.

Motor Generator Set: This set is apparently in reason- able condition, only normal running spares and maintenance need be anticipated.

Similar observations apply.

Feed Water System: The feed water system is generally in reasonable condition, the various components have been over- hauled as necessary, and the number of pumps available is adequate. Normal maintenance and repair is all that need be anticipated.

Boilers:

No.13 Boiler: This boiler has not yet been erected. Approximate 35% of the structural steelwork is on site, the balance having disappeared since the surrender of the Colony. Of the boiler itself, a number of component parts are on site. The rear boiler drum has suffered severe damage, apparently due to being partially filled with salt water. This is not a Government liability.
