Copy of letter dated 11th April, 1946, from J.D. Butcher, London representative of the Hong Kong Electric Company to L.H. King, Civil Affairs Staff,
Hong Kong, London.
Cost of Return Passages
I wrote a letter to Mr. D.M. Kenrick, dated 1st April, with reference to the above subject, but have since heard that Mr. Kenrick has returned to Hong Kong, and that this matter should have been referred to you.
Since writing my letter of 1st April, I have received from Hong Kong copies of extracts of Minutes of the China Association and sundry correspondence, which I am forwarding to you. The Hong Kong Electric Company are of the definite opinion that the return passages of tho se members of the Staff who came to England other placed on rehabilitation leave should be a charge against H. M. Government.
I shall be obliged if you will take this matter up and let me have a reply in due course.
