On the subject of the

Vice Chancellorship of the

University here, Sloss, I am glad to say, has agreed to stay on until March of next year. It is very much on the cards that Ride will be selected as the next Vice Chancellor. Ride, at the present moment, is Commandant of the Volunteers. Were he to be replaced as Commandant just now, the Volunteers would flop, or rather would cease to get going again. But should he be appointed Vice Chancellor, but not taking up his duties until March or April of next year, it should be possible for him to get things going sufficiently well so that he could hand over to a new-comer.
