Thank you for your letter 5414/47 of 18th March to Mr. Ballantyne who has now left this department.
I enclose a draft of a letter which Sir Orme Sargent proposes to send to the Permanent Under-Secretary of the Treasury in support of your memorandum requesting financial assistance for the re-establishment of Hong Kong University.
I should be grateful to know if this draft has your approval and if so to receive a copy of Sir Thomas Lloyd's letter to the Treasury so that we can despatch our letter immediately afterwards.
