Expenses of elections.

19. (1) All expenses properly incurred in relation

to the holding of an election of a councillor, not

exceeding such scale as may be fixed by the Council, so

far as the scale is applicable, shall be paid by the

Council.

(2) Before a poll is taken at an election of a

councillor, the Council shall, at the request of the

returning officer, advance to him such sim, not

exceeding two hundred dollars for every thousand electors

at the election, as he may require.

PART III – GENERAL PROVISIONS AS TO MEMBERS

OF THE COUNCIL

Disqualifications for Office

20. Subject to the provisions of this section a

person shall be disqualified for being elected, nominated

or appointed or being a member of the Council if he

(a) holds any office or situation of emolument

under the Crown; or

-

(b) holds any paid office or other place of profit

(other than that of Chairman) in the gift or

disposal of the Council or any committee

thereof, or having held any such office has

been dismissed therefrom; or

(c) is a person who has been adjudged bankrupt, or

made a composition or arrangement with his

creditors; or

(d) has been convicted of treason; or

(e) has within ten years before the day of election,

nomination or appointment or since his

election, nomination or appointment been

convicted in the Colony of any offence and

ordered to be imprisoned for a period of not

less than three months without the option of a fine; or
