(3) Immediately upon the making of any
representation under this section the Council shall cause
to be published in the Gazette and in one or more

newspapers, both English and Chinese, published in the Colony, a notice stating that the representation has been
made and that a copy thereof and of the proposals
accompanying it are open to inspection at a specified
place in the Municipality and that petitions with respect
thereto may be made to the Governor in Council within
one month after publication of the notice.
(4) A representation made under this section shall,
unless it appears to the Governor in Council that the
same ought not to be entertained, as soon as may be after
the expiration of the period of one month referred to in
the preceding sub-section, stand referred to the
Legislative Council for consideration and decision.
(5) Upon any reference under the preceding sub-
section the Legislative Council may, after such inquiry (if any) as it may think proper, by resolution make any
such division or alteration as is mentioned in sub-sectio
(1) of this section as it may think fit and may require
the holding of any such fresh election of councillors as

in the said sub-section mentioned.
(6) A resolution of the Legislative Council under this section may contain such incidental, consequential and supplemental provisions as appear to the Legislative
Council to be necessary or proper for giving full effect
thereto.
(7) Every resolution under this section shall come into force at the time of the passing thereof unless
some other time be specified in the resolution and in that
case at the time so specified; and any resolution may be
amended, varied, revoked or suspended by any subsequent
resolution.
