In view of Hong Kong telegram CA 1618 of 25th January, 1946, it was agreed to request immediate Treasury approval for the revised rates of pay for the local (Chinese) inspectorate. The proposed increase in the establishment numbers of such persons was less urgent and could be considered separately (paragraph 4 of savingram 1366 from Hong Kong).

The question of "separation allowances" at present being paid to Police in Hong Kong was considered, and it was suggested that the fairest way of settling this matter would be to announce that such allowances, where payable, would cease as from a certain date (possibly 1st December, 1946).
