With reference to your letter, No.S.52892/05 of the 1st of May and to my letter of the 24th June, I enclose a copy of a telegram, No.432 Top Secret, of the 25th June, 1946 from Hong Kọng giving the estimateć cost of the 300 Indian Police whom the Governor proposes to retain.
We shall be grateful to hear as soon as possible whether you agree to the increased rates of pay and to the proposed establishment of the Chinese and Indian sections.
